PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD)
For Chartered title holders,
ACIIs who have registered on the Fellowship Scheme and MSTIs,
CPD is now compulsory for the maintenance of those titles
by those still working. The objective is to provide a range
of structured and unstructured activities to update and enhance
knowledge and experience at the highest professional level.
A points system has been created
to provide evidence of CPD and title holders must attain 180
points over three years, with a minimum of 50 points in any
one year. 75% of the points amassed should be structured CPD.
Examples of activities and the points which will be awarded
are:
- Conference, seminars and research - 3
points per hour (Structured).
- Examination marking and invigilation,
acting as a mentor to colleagues, professional institute
or trade body work - 2 points per hour (Structured).
- Reading technical journals, individual
study - 1 point per hour (Unstructured).
Full details are in the CPD
folder provided to each title holder. This explains the scheme
and contains a record sheet for the collation of points.
Most Mid-Kent Institute
lecture meetings carry CPD points.
