CII launches an ethics course online
We are launching a new online course on ethics next week. This will help members update their knowledge on the CII's code of ethics as well as helping with some real life situations with case studies.
What will be covered in the course?
- What do we mean by ethics?
- Ethics and the business environment
- Ethics in Insurance and Financial Services
- Ethics and your working environment
- How to handle ethical issues
The course will be free to access for all CII and PFS members and will be available from 29 June on the Knowledge Services site - you will need to log in to take part. It will also be added to the 'Essentials' suites of financial ASSESS, mortgage ASSESS, broker ASSESS and insurance ASSESS once it is launched next week.
You can claim 20 CPD credits on completion of this course. Please note that usage of the course on the Knowledge Services site is not tracked, so members whose organisations use ASSESS should take care to complete the Ethics course within ASSESS.
What other resources are available?
The general insurance faculties recently had a roundtable event on ethics - Making the Right Choices where discussions on ethical behaviour took place. Click here to view the whole report.
There are regular updates in the Journal magazine on the topic of ethics. You will find an article in each issue. You can view the latest issue, as well as all past issues here.
What's coming up?
We are in the process of recording podcasts on different ethical topics. The first one will be launched in your July edition of the Journal Xpress and then a different one will be available in each subsequent Xpress until the end of the year.
For more information on ethics and to download a copy of the Code of Ethics please visit the Ethics page on the website.

In addition, the number of members, both Chartered and those on their way to qualification, continued to grow throughout the year.
